Getting Started

How do I create a trip?

Click "Start a Trip" on the homepage. The wizard walks you through naming your trip, setting dates, and choosing priorities. AI will suggest destinations based on your group's preferences.

How do I join a trip I was invited to?

Click the invite link you received. Sign in (or create an account), select your family, and you're in. You'll see a walkthrough of what your group is planning.

What's the difference between organizer, co-organizer, and member?

Organizers and co-organizers can add destinations, manage the itinerary, advance trip phases, and invite families. Members can vote, RSVP to activities, and add expenses. Viewers can only see the trip.

Voting & Destinations

How does ranked-choice voting work?

Instead of just thumbs up/down, you rank destinations from 1 (favorite) to N. Rankings are scored using a points system — your #1 pick gets the most points. Switch to "Ranked list" view on the vote page to use it.

What's the voting deadline?

When the organizer opens voting, they can set an optional deadline. A countdown timer appears on the vote and compare pages. After the deadline, voting closes automatically.

What's the Decision Helper?

The sidebar on the ranked ballot view shows three signals: which destination is cheapest for your family, which has the highest group consensus, and which best matches the trip's stated priorities (budget, family-friendly, etc.).

I got a cost outlier alert. What does it mean?

It means one family's estimated cost for a destination is significantly higher than the group average (2x or more). This usually means a longer flight or different lodging. The organizer should verify the numbers.

Itinerary & Activities

How do I add activities to the itinerary?

Click the "+ Quick add" text in any empty time slot to type an activity title and hit Enter. For more detail (costs, descriptions, RSVPs), use the "Add Block" button which opens a full form.

Can I undo if I delete something by accident?

Yes. When you delete a destination, itinerary block, or travel requirement, a 30-second "Undo" toast appears at the bottom of the screen. Click "Undo" to restore it instantly.

What happens if the organizer advances the trip phase by mistake?

Phase changes have a 24-hour revert window. A small "Undo phase change" button appears below the progress bar. Both organizers and co-organizers can revert.

Notifications

How do I control which emails I get?

Go to your Profile > Notifications. You can set email frequency (instant, daily digest, or off) per trip, and toggle individual notification types like phase changes, itinerary published, and member joined.

How do I unsubscribe from all emails?

Either click the unsubscribe link in any GroupJaunt email, or go to Profile > Notifications and toggle "Pause all GroupJaunt emails" at the bottom.

Offline & Sync

What happens if I lose internet during the trip?

GroupJaunt works offline. Your actions (votes, RSVPs) are queued and sync automatically when you reconnect. If a sync fails after 3 retries, you'll see an amber "Pending changes" banner with Retry and Discard options.
